Sportsbooks Like The Jets No Matter Who Their QB Will Be This Week Against The Bears

Zach Wilson's performance has been objectively awful but the Jets are 5-2 under his watch

Well, it’s been quite a season for Zach Wilson.

Things started off in the summer with a torn meniscus in the Jets’ first preseason game, which came hot on the heels of rumors of a romantic fling with Wilson’s mom’s best friend.

Really, as far as summers go, this one is right on par with some late night Cinemax movies from the 1980s.

Then the season started, and Joe Flacco — who may or may not be older than Wilson’s mom’s best friend — “led” the Jets to a 1-2 start, with a thrilling last-minute win over the Cleveland Browns sandwiched between losses to the Ravens and Bengals.

In Week 4, enter Wilson, who legit led them to a 24-20 victory over the Steelers.

From there, the Jets blew out the Dolphins, toppled the Packers and Broncos, and beat the Bills in between losing a pair of games against the Patriots.

Translation: Under Wilson’s watch, the Jets are 5-2.

Problem solved?

All good? Not quite. Head coach Robert Saleh won’t confirm Wilson will be the starter come Sunday against the Bears, this after Wilson seemingly threw his own defense under the bus in the presser after Sunday’s loss to the Pats.

It doesn’t help Wilson’s case that his numbers this year are slightly north of abysmal: He’s completed 55% of his passes, has a 4:5 touchdown-to-interception ratio, and has managed a mere 1,279 passing yards in his seven games.

So will Wilson take the field as the starting quarterback this Sunday, or will Saleh fling Flacco in and hope the veteran can navigate this team to the playoffs?

The sportsbooks aren’t waiting to find out, and figure the Jets defense will be able to do enough to get the win, as the Jets are 4.5-point favorites over the Bears (best bet is -109 at Unibet) and they’re -205 moneyline favorites at DraftKings.

The over/under is set at a miniscule 39.5 points, with the over at -107 at PointsBet and -105 at DraftKings.

What could make these lines move? Flacco, perhaps, but more likely the health of Justin Fields, who is considered day-to-day with a non-throwing shoulder injury.

Also worth noting: Fields taking the blame for the Bears’ loss last week to the Falcons, even apologizing for it to his defense.

Clearly, the Jets’ locker room is a little … well, let’s call it faputzy, which isn’t a word, but feels like it sums up the state of the team right now.

Have anything to say about it, rookie wide receiver Garrett Wilson?

When player props are released, it will certainly be interesting to see what the lines are for the Jets’ quarterback. It will also be interesting to see who the Jets quarterback is.
