Welp, it’s Thanksgiving week, which means if you’re anything like me, you’re going to eat too much food, bet on too much NFL, and then probably wash it all down with a few hands of blackjack when your Uncle Irving inquires about this whole “so wait, you can gamble from your phone?!” thing.

Well, instead of showing him why you should double down on a soft 18 when the dealer is showing a three through six, instead take him over to an online casino – like WynnBET – for a little mindless fun with the decidedly Thanksgiving-themed Gobblers Gone Wylde slot.

Seriously: What better way to fritter away a few bucks — or put off the effects of the tryptophan — than to try your luck with a few turkeys?

So please pass the mashed potatoes and get a spoonful of some green bean casserole as we head on over to Turkey Town, USA, for some finger-licking … well, you get the general idea.

The facts

This bountiful slot comes with a 96% RTP courtesy of High 5 Games, and as far as gameplay goes, it’s easier than grandma’s cornbread recipe.

Get three or more of the same symbols across three or more reels starting with the first, and you win a prize quicker than you can say, “Yes, of course I’ll take some leftovers home!” (If you think the Thanksgiving references are going to stop anytime soon, I assure you they won’t.)

The turkey wishbone is the most valuable symbol, followed by a pilgrim with a musket, a Native American with a bow and arrow, three turkeys in various states of distress (due, in no small part, to the musket and bow and arrow lurking about), followed by the Thanksgiving standbys of A, K, Q, J, and … the number five. Is the number 10 not Thanksgiving-themed? Did High 5 Games not secure rights to the number 10? I have questions. (Oh. Wait. Maybe it’s because of the ‘5’ in their name. It’s making sense now. D’oh.)

There are wilds to be had — but they are spelled “wyldes” in the game, like Zakk from Ozzy Osbourne’s old band — and if you get one on reel five (it’s a turkey with the “wylde” written over it), the other turkeys on all the other reels will also become wilds.

There are also bonus free games to be had by getting the cornucopia of “free games” symbols in reels two, three, and four. That will trigger seven bonus games.

Look and feel

This is one of the most whimsical games you’ll ever play. It’s pure silliness. Too bad there’s money on the line.

The background music is hotter than the frying oil you use for your turkey (fine, I’ll stop). But it’s really, really good. It’s a happy, boppy, whistle-y tune. I would legitimately like to make it the sound of the alarm on my phone.

And then, when you spin, it goes “gobble gobble gobble,” and if you win, the characters on the screen come to life. The Native American shoots his bow, the pilgrim accidentally fires off the musket, and the turkeys flap their wings.

It’s legit fun, and I can’t get the song out of my head.

The results

I lost everything at 40 cents a spin. Took all of five minutes. No bonus games for me, but no matter – I plan on challenging Uncle Irving to some gin rummy at a penny a point during Thanksgiving. I’ll make my ten bucks back.
