While, all told, New Jersey online casinos boast around two dozen progressive slot games, three jackpot titles are currently offering unusually high grand prizes.

Tropicana/Virgin Casino’s Wonderland, Virgin’s exclusive Deal Or No Deal and the ever popular Divine Fortune slot at Play SugarHouse have all racked up jackpots above and beyond their normal levels. Here’s where they stand at the time of this writing:

  • Wonderland: $225,077
  • Deal Or No Deal: $151,243
  • Divine Fortune: $240,500

Trop/Virgin’s GameSys jackpots

Virgin Casino operates under the Tropicana license, with both online casinos offering mostly the same games. Players at both sites can try their luck on Wonderland, where a portion of each bet goes to the slot’s jackpot network. Deal Or No Deal, however, is available exclusively at Virgin Casino, and is fed only by players at that site.

The Wonderland slot was inspired, of course, by Alice in Wonderland, and developed by a studio affiliated with GameSys. The sleek, 100-line game gives players a chance to trigger four bonus rounds, each of which provides a path to the progressive.

While the $225,077 Wonderland jackpot on offer today is impressive, it still hasn’t reached its all-time high mark. In May of 2015, the slot rose to a massive $398,375, before it was hit by a lucky Tropicana Casino player who made a bet of just $0.01.

As reported by the state Division of Gaming Enforcement, it was hit just two other times in its history for amounts over $50,000. In 2016, another Tropicana player triggered a grand prize of $149,022 on a $1 bet, while the following year it was popped for $197,139. The latter win, featured on the Tropicana Casino blog, was made by a woman who had decided to play the slot for a few minutes in the early hours of the morning before work.

Deal Or No Deal

Based on the drama-packed NBC hit gameshow, Deal Or No Deal was released in 2006 and also developed by GameSys.

When three Deal Or No Deal symbols appear on reels 1, 3 and 5, gamblers enter a bonus game and are presented with 22 briefcases. Proceed through the game and either accept a cash prize revealed inside a briefcase, or go big and try for the progressive.

At the end of the game, only two briefcases remain, one of which will contain the handsome progressive jackpot. Don’t forget that, to hit the jackpot, all 20 paylines must be bet.

As it is only being pumped up by wagers at a single online casino, the Deal Or No Deal jackpot rarely rises above $50,000. The only time it did so was late last year, when a Virgin Casino player hit the top prize of $79,009 with a $1 bet. Now, the jackpot is nearly double that amount and still climbing, a rarity for the title.

Divine Fortune climbs near to near all-time high

Developed by NetEnt, Divine Fortune is a breakout hit at NJ online casinos, and is not exclusive to any one operator. In fact, it is offered at several different gaming sites and is responsible for nearly 40% of all reported progressive payouts in the state.

Divine Fortune keeps players coming back with a fun, exciting and engaging jackpot bonus game in which lucrative bonus coins fill the screen. Each coin is randomly assigned a multiplier of up to 200x a player’s bet, allowing for some truly enormous prizes.

During the bonus feature, players have three free spins to collect more coins and fill each row, which will trigger one of the game’s three jackpots. Fill one row and trigger the modest Minor jackpot, worth 20x a player’s bet. Complete two rows and win the Major for a whopping 100 units. If all three rows become filled, the Mega Progressive is activated, paying out what could be a life-changing sum. The free spins bucket refills every time a new coin is collected.

The SugarHouse Divine Fortune jackpot currently sits at around $240,500, a level much higher than average. While the slot is constantly being hit for smaller amounts, only those above $50,000 are reported by the DGE and known to the public.

According to those stats, only once has it been triggered for more than a quarter-of-million dollars. That happened at Golden Nugget Casino in August of last year, when a $10 bet on the slot resulted in a $271,268 win. Just last month (and yet to be recorded), another Golden Nugget player filled all three jackpot rows with coins to win a massive $240,027.

Could today be the day?

While the chances of taking down the grand prize of a progressive slot are slim, the high-dollar jackpots which have been accumulated at Wonderland, Deal Or No Deal and SugarHouse’s Divine Fortune are enticing and hard to ignore.

Players looking to make the score of a lifetime might just find it worth their while to try their luck while the jackpots are pumped up to such an eye-popping level.

Of course, masochists looking for an even bigger score can take a shot at The Big One progressive network at Borgata, playMGM and Party Casino, which currently sits at nearly $2.5 million. Of course, that jackpot hasn’t been hit in several years, so players are probably more likely to get struck by lightning than walk away with its seven-figure payday.
