Attention Garden State bettors: Betway Sportsbook has officially crossed the Atlantic and has set up shop in New Jersey. As one of the oldest, most mature online sports betting and casino states in the country, it takes a lot to make a splash by the Jersey Shore… but Betway seems to have done just that.
Betway Sportsbook officially opened its doors with a soft launch in New Jersey on August 18, 2021, made possible by a licensing agreement with the Golden Nugget Atlantic City. A premium sports betting brand that refined its product in Europe, Betway offers all of the bells and whistles that consumers have come to expect in a top tier online sportsbook. In our review we’ll cover the whole spectrum of Betway NJ, from the top promo code and bonus, to betting options, aesthetics, banking, customer service, and more.
Once your feet are firmly planted in New Jersey, Betway has a valuable, if unspectacular welcome offer waiting for you. New Betway users can cash in on an exclusive $250 risk-free bet promotion. The only requirements to participate with the offer is that you sign up with a verified account (you just need to provide the requested personal info to become verified – more on what that entails later), make a real money deposit of at least $10, and put down your first bet within 7 days.

|New Player Bonus||$250 Risk-Free Bet|
|Bonus Valid||October 2021|
|New Jersey Partner||Golden Nugget AC|
|Online Since||August 2021|
After making your initial deposit your very first qualifying wager will trigger the risk-free promotion. If your first bet loses, Betway will credit you with free bet funds that equal the total amount of that first bet, capping at $250. For example, if your initial wager is for $50 and it misses, you’ve got $50 in free bet funds to make up for it. If your first wager is for $250 and it bricks, you’ve got the maximum $250 coming back in free bet funds.
As per the terms and conditions, all free bets must be used within 7 days or else they will expire. Notably, any free bet funds credited through this New Jersey offer can only be used on one wager – you can’t break it up into several bets. In addition, corresponding free bet funds will only pay out on the profits from the bet, excluding the original free bet stake. Keep this in mind when putting them in play.
All risk-free bet funds will be credited to the bettors account within 24 hours of the first wager registering as a loss. If the first bet doesn’t register as a loss, well, it means you either won or pushed – congrats!
First, let’s talk eligibility.
When it comes to account creation, after hitting the Betway Sportsbook NJ homepage the sign up form will be posted front and center as a pop up. You can begin right away by entering your email address and selecting a password:
After you’ve filled out this first form, you’ve technically got an account. However, in order to verify it and qualify for the welcome bonus, or place a real money wager for that matter, you’re going to need to provide some more info. That includes:
…and the process rounds out by checking a bunch of boxes to certify that the information you’ve provided is correct, and to select a few preferences. Once you’re done, hit the ‘Submit’ button. That’s not it, however. The validation process continues with a few personal security questions that the book has picked out. Answer them appropriately and you’re good to go.
Now you’re on your Betway (pun intended).
When online sportsbooks first started showing up in the Garden State, desktop sites were the standard with a mobile app being the cherry on top. Now? It’s a mobile betting world, with some bookmakers forgoing the desktop platform entirely, focusing specifically on the mobile app. Where does Betway New Jersey fit into this picture? Well, at launch they’re currently desktop only. Betway sportsbook has debuted in New Jersey with excellent options for betting on a desktop computer, but the mobile app hasn’t made an appearance yet. Once it does you will be able to bet from your laptop, your phone, your tablet, etc. – but for now it’s going to require a web browser.
Let’s start with the desktop, which has a pretty typical look and performance to it. There’s live betting (or In-Play, as they call it) listed right on the homepage – you can’t miss it. There’s a large icon for each sport that’s available for in-play betting that lets you jump back and forth between them with ease. Betway also lists all of its best promotions towards the top of the book with a sequence of clickable images, each of which will lead you to the T&C of the offer. You can find a complete list of sports to explore on the left side of the screen, and they’ve managed to squeeze the betslip in on the right side. Generally speaking it’s a pretty standard look for an online sportsbook and performs as such. After lining up the right bet, just click on it and you’ll see it appear conveniently on the betslip.
Below the list of sports there is a convenient ‘Statistics’ button that will give you quick access to a bunch of relevant data. If you don’t know what you’re going to be betting on yet, this can help. For example, for the Premier League you can easily check the league table, explore fixtures, check head to head breakdowns dating back years, look at the impact of referees, stadium data, and more. There’s a lot here and it’s certainly worth using.
As mentioned, Betway Sportsbook NJ is currently only available through a web browser. Mobile betting is clearly the way forward, however, and we know that Betway will have a mobile app for New Jersey use sooner rather than later. How do we know? Well, for one, they’ve confirmed it themselves, and two, they already have a mobile sports betting app in other states of operation like Colorado and Pennsylvania. It’s just a matter of time. We’ll update accordingly with screenshots and a complete app review once it hits the market.
It’s not hard to deposit or withdraw your money from Betway Sportsbook NJ. With that in mind, the sportsbook could still use a few more options. There are some extremely common deposit options that are glaringly absent from their NJ book. Let’s start with what you can use to fund your account:
As far as withdrawals are concerned, you’re limited to the same list of options above, minus PayNearMe – that service is only available for deposits. As discussed above, the options available definitely work, but there is room for improvement. We expect the sportsbook to add new deposit and withdrawal options like Credit Cards and PayPal, both of which are generally considered industry standard, as they find their way in the state. If they don’t, they will likely struggle to compete in this crowded marketplace.
Beyway NJ offers competitive betting lines and overall pricing. Most come in around the $.20 cent range, which would be your standard -110 bets. If you’re wagering on a marquee, primetime game, that’s typically what you’ll be looking at. As far as spreads, over/under lines, etc., there is some variety when compared to other bookmakers. As an example, for a Monday Night Football matchup FanDuel Sportsbook had the total set at 50 points, where as Betway had it at 50.5. Likewise, FanDuel had the spread as -3.5 but Betway as at -4. Depending on which side you want to bet, Betway may have a better price.
In general shopping around for lines is a great practice. Bettors can often find some differences within the New Jersey sports betting market that can prove beneficial. While Betway isn’t guaranteed to have the best pricing for what you want to wager on, they are definitely worth checking because they’re generally quite competitive across the board, and they may be offering an extra half point that could make all the difference.
We would stop short of using the word spartan, but there is room for improvement on the promotion front. In addition to the welcome offer Betway does occasionally roll out useful, valuable promotions like free bets or odds boosts. When they’re present, they’re great… but we’d like to see more. Further, Betway doesn’t have any sort of cohesive rewards program that offers predictable, consistent value.
In fact, Betway has gone as far as to combine the ‘Promotions’ area with a ‘Features’ section, appropriately labeled ‘Promotions and Features’. This allows them to list things like early cash outs and same game parlays as alongside their promotions, which sort of gives the appearance that there’s more going on than there actually is. Generally speaking though they do have some solid offers, but they would benefit from adding more.
Betway Sportsbook will take a bet on just about every sport that’s legal to wager on in the Garden State. This includes the top college and professional leagues for all of the following:
It is worth noting that New Jersey state law does not currently allow for sportsbooks to accept wagers on in-state college teams, nor any college game being played inside the state. That may sound extreme, but as one of the first state’s to legalize betting post-PASPA, legislators wanted to err on the side of caution and include stipulations to protect local, amateur athletes.
While the list above will provide an idea of what you can bet on, how you bet on those sports/contests is a totally different matter. Available NJ sports bets include (but are not limited to):
The bottom line is that if you have a particular hunch about an upcoming contest and want to bet it, Betway should have you covered, no matter how you want to play it.
To get in touch with Betway support, all you need to do is click the ‘Contact Us’ button. This will pull up the Betway Sportsbook Knowledge Base, which as you might expect, has a lot of knowledge… it’s essentially a FAQ. There are categories and sub-categories for a variety of major topics that include Responsible Gaming, deposits, withdrawals, account issues, technical issues, security, fraud, and more. You’ll also notice a little chat bubble appear in the bottom right corner of the screen. If you click on it you’ll be able to load up a ‘Live Chat’ window. This will allow you to exchange messages directly with a real agent. On top of the FAQ system and Live Chat, you can also submit a support ticket by clicking on the corresponding button at the bottom of the page.
