Play For Over $130K In Prizes In PokerStars NJ SCOOP Main Event On Sunday

Looking to make in excess of $30,000 this weekend?

PokerStars is giving New Jerseyans a much-needed form of entertainment while stuck at home in the form of a lucrative legal online poker tournament series, one of the largest to date in the nascent regulated internet poker market in the United States.

The PokerStars NJ Spring Championship of Online Poker has been humming along all month, with the series set to wrap up late on Monday, April 27 or in the early morning hours of Tuesday, April 28. The flagship tournament of the NJ SCOOP kicks off Sunday, April 26.

That’s the $100,000 Main Event, which players can enter via a $300 direct buy-in. There are a handful of satellites still available to play in, so you can find yourself in the tournament for a much smaller investment. On Friday, April 24, there are a pair of low-stakes satellites, one for $20 and one for $30. Saturday, April 25 will offer two additional satellites, and same goes for Sunday, April 26 ahead of the tournament.

The $300 no-limit hold’em Main Event, which allows re-entries for several hours, kicks off at 5 p.m. EST on Sunday. It’s a two-day event. Play will pause after the 18th level of play on Sunday, with the remaining players scheduled to resume action at 7 p.m. EST on Monday, April 27 to play to a winner.

As of early Friday morning, there were 49 confirmed entries. The event will need more than 358 entries in order to meet the guarantee. PokerStars is raking $20 off every $300 buy-in.

The tournament is deep-stacked, which means that you’ll have plenty of chips to work with. Each player starts with 15,000 in tournament chips, and the blinds start at 25/50.

The blinds go up every 20 minutes.

Mini-Main Event

The NJ SCOOP has featured both “high” and “low” buy-ins for each tournament. There’s a $50 re-entry Main Event starting at the same time on Sunday. The guaranteed prize pool for this event is $30,000, and it could award in the ballpark of $10,000 to the winner.

As of Friday morning, 81 entries were recorded on the poker platform. There are six $5 satellites still available to play in between Friday and Sunday for those looking to qualify for a fraction of the cost.

The event isn’t as deep-stacked as the $300 Main Event. In the $50 buy-in Main Event, players start with 10,000 in chips and with the blinds at 25/50. It’s still a generous structure.

The blinds increase every 15 minutes.

Like the larger Main Event, the mini-Main Event is two days. It also resumes on Monday at 7 p.m. EST.

The rake for the $50 buy-in Main Event is $4.50. It will need 660 entries to meet the guarantee.

It’s worth noting that you can play in both Main Events.
