For the second time in a week, visitors to The Borgata casino in Atlantic City on Wednesday found a closed casino floor due to a technology upgrade “as part of the Borgata integration process with MGM Resorts International.” Restaurants and other amenities were not impacted.

The gaming floor was scheduled to reopen at 2 p.m., and a notice was posted on TheBorgata.com with some details. Slot machines, table games, poker, racebook, and in-person sports betting all were put on pause.

For loyalty program patrons, Tier Credits, Points, Express Comps, and Slot Dollars earnings remain the same. No update is required of a password to the website, with the account number and PIN also remaining intact.

M life Rewards members also will earn Tier Credits for non-gaming spend on dining, hotel, spa treatments, and entertainment.

Online gaming accounts will remain connected to M life Rewards accounts after the integration.

And popular public promotions like $777 winners every 7 minutes during this month will resume in May, a Borgata official noted.

Borgata website also gets a makeover

Once the simultaneous website update is completed during the 12-hour shutdown, consumers can view new offers on the site.

On the website, a new search feature is a magnifying glass icon on the top right corner of the screen, making it easier to find information on dining options, an entertainer’s next appearance date, casino promotions, and other amenities.

An “Open Indicator” feature also will identify which restaurants, shops, or spas are open in real time.

As for M life Rewards, Borgata Express Comps and MGM Express Comps will be combined and can be used at any MGM Resorts property.

Booking a hotel room, spa service, or dinner reservation has been streamlined for mobile phone users, and theborgata.com website will now look the same regardless of whether using a phone, tablet, laptop, or PC.

A poker point of order

There are changes, however, at the Borgata poker room.

The process of receiving Express Comps for poker play is changing temporarily. Express Comps earned by playing poker will not be automatically loaded to M life Rewards cards. Players looking to have their earned poker Express Comps added to their accounts should visit the shift manager podium in the poker room at the completion of their session.

Slot machine vouchers printed prior to April 21 won’t work, but they can be redeemed at the main cashier.

As for live entertainment, the next four shows at Borgata’s The Music Box theater are all in July, including a comedy show with Jim Breuer and a concert with Air Supply. An Aug. 28 concert by The Commodores is the only event scheduled so far for that month.
