St. Patrick’s Day may have already come and gone this year, but the luck of the Irish is still very much in the air at Borgata Casino. The site recently added yet another exclusive progressive to its roster of jackpot games, making it the fifth slot to feed into its bloated Big Series jackpot pool.
Luck O’ The Jackpot was created by the designers at GVC, the software company which powers Borgata’s iGaming platform, and made its international debut in May 2017. It represents a refreshing addition to the site’s game library, which unfortunately features a number of slots with extremely dated designs.
With a return to player percentage (RTP) of 95%, Luck O’ The Jackpot is not as attractive as some of the other slots on the market, a few of which go as high as 98%. However, the game’s jackpot – which has grown massive – has to be funded somehow, so the decreased RTP is only natural for a slot of its type. The payback rate is still a much better deal than the odds offered by most Atlantic City slots, which hover around 91%.
A fresh look and feel
Luck O’ The Jackpot boasts a sleek and modern design which, frankly, puts other Big Series slots to shame. Indeed, companion games like Loot’EnKhamun and Going Nuts may as well have been designed inside Microsoft Paint when compared with the sharp graphic design work that went into making Borgata’s latest title.
The game window is set on a tranquil Irish meadow, with an animated 3D Leprechaun watching the proceedings excitedly outside his tiny home on the left side of the screen. When big winning matches are hit, players not only receive a nice payout, but have the pleasure of watching the Leprechaun dance a celebratory jig as well.
The reel set configuration in the game is unique and unlike other Big Series slots. It features a display of 2, 2, 3, 4, 4, symbols per reel. Luck O’ The Jackpot is also different in that it does not rely on paylines to determine winning matches. Instead, the slot features a 192 Ways to Win payout structure, which requires that identical symbols fall on adjacent reels, not along any set lines.
The special and high-value symbols included in Luck O’ The Jackpot are, unsurprisingly, all centered on stereotypical Irish-based themes of luck. The Wild symbol features the Leprechaun himself, while the Scatter is represented by a Beer Keg. The other symbols include:
- Four Leaf Clover
- Whiskey Bottle
- Leprechaun’s Hat
- Pot of Gold
Wine Cave bonus game
Hitting the multimillion dollar Big One jackpot is not an easy task. Thankfully though, Luck O’ The Jackpot provides some easier pickings while you wait.
When three or more Scatter symbols fall, the Wine Cave bonus game is triggered. Players are whisked to a new screen, which displays a wine cellar filled with nine wine barrels. Patrons take their pick of three barrels, each of which include a number of Free Games along with a Multiplier to be applied during the round.
Once the choices have been made, players are passed to a new reel set where the Free Spins are played out. Those lucky enough to hit three additional Scatters during the round will trigger additional Free Games equal to the original amount awarded.
Hitting the Luck O’ The Jackpot progressive
While Luck O’ The Jackpot players can potentially hit the enormous Big Series marquee prize, they also have the chance to hit four other, smaller jackpots. A portion of each wager placed is set aside for the following:
- Blitz Cash Jackpot
- Quick Cash Jackpot
- Super Cash Jackpot
- Mega Cash Jackpot
- Colossal Cash Jackpot
To win the seven-figure top prize, players should keep their eye out for the Colossal Cash Jackpot. It’s also important to keep in mind that to have a chance at any of the progressives, you’ll need to bet at least $1.35 per spin.
Players can win one of the five jackpots during any random spin. When the stars align, the main screen will change into the jackpot screen where the user will be presented with a prize wheel. The five jackpots will be displayed on the left side of the screen and are represented by colors on the wheel.
Simply press the spin button to put the wheel in motion and find out whether you’ll win a modest payout, or become NJ’s next millionaire.
More on the elusive Big Series jackpot
Luck O’ The Jackpot is just one of several progressive slots connected to the Big Series jackpot, which currently teases a $2,353,746 grand prize, the biggest in town. One reason the kitty has grown so large is due to the fact that the Big Series games can be played not just at Borgata, but at partner sites playMGM and PartyCasino as well.
While the eye-popping prize is certainly attention grabbing, the jackpot has proven extremely difficult to crack. In fact, the last time someone took home a Big Series payday in New Jersey was back in 2015.
But the bigger it gets, the more attractive and popular it becomes, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see it hit sometime in the near future.
Ca$h Fla$h, the other jackpot network in operation at Borgata-licensed sites, is much more liberal with its payouts. Unfortunately, though, those prizes are normally quite small, usually averaging in the four-figure range.
Luck O’ The Jackpot is by far the most attractive slot connected to Borgata’s Big Series jackpot, certainly in terms of design.
While the slot boasts what amounts to an average RTP, the true fun of playing the game comes in trying to hit the massive jackpot. However, unlike other progressive slots that pay out more frequently (e.g. Divine Fortune), the main Big Series progressive hasn’t been popped in several years. That doesn’t mean that some of the smaller jackpots are more within reach, of course, but is something to keep in mind before you take a shot at the grand prize.
That said, eventually someone has to hit it – could it be you?
